Anchorage Tech Stop Catering: Private Jet Meals on Transpacific Routes via Anchorage (PANC / ANC)

Anchorage tech stop catering is a familiar part of many transpacific journeys. Anchorage (PANC / ANC) lies on the great-circle route between North America and Asia, and long-range business jets stop here for fuel and crew rest between the United States, Japan, Korea, China and beyond. A well-planned uplift at Anchorage turns a technical stop into a fresh start: new meals for the next sector, breakfast for the arrival and a welcome change of menu for passengers and crew.

Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Anchorage, Fairbanks (PAFA / FAI) and the major airports at both ends of the Pacific. This guide explains how to plan catering for a tech stop at Anchorage, how to split menus between the two legs, Alaskan specialities worth adding and how to order.

Why a tech stop is the perfect moment to refresh catering

On a flight between the East Coast and Tokyo or Seoul, passengers can spend many hours on board across two long sectors. Loading the full catering for both legs at departure means large quantities and long storage times. A fresh uplift at Anchorage lets the first leg carry only what it needs, while the second leg starts with dishes prepared the same day. Crews appreciate the lighter galley, and passengers enjoy fresh food at every service.

  • Fresher meals: dishes for the second sector are prepared for the stop, not loaded a day earlier.

  • Lighter galley: each leg carries only the catering it needs, which our article on catering weight and flight efficiency explores in detail.

  • Menu variety: a different menu after the stop keeps a long journey interesting.

  • Crew meals: fresh crew meals for the second duty period, with balanced options.

Planning menus across two legs

The key to a smooth tech stop is to plan both legs together in one order. Our team looks at the departure time, the arrival time at Anchorage, the remaining sector length and the time zone at destination, then suggests services that match the passengers' body clock.

Hot dishes come with clear reheating guidance for the galley ovens, sauces are packed separately and every item carries allergen labelling. Our approach follows HACCP principles and a careful cold chain from kitchen to aircraft. For more on long sectors, read our guide to ultra-long-range menus.

Alaskan flavours worth adding

Alaska's waters and wilderness give Anchorage some of the finest ingredients in North America, and a tech stop is a chance to enjoy them on board.

  • Wild Alaskan salmon: smoked, cured or cooked, served chilled or warm.

  • Halibut and black cod: delicate white fish that reheats beautifully.

  • King crab: when in season, served chilled with sauces on the side.

  • Reindeer sausage: a local favourite for a hearty breakfast.

  • Wild berries: blueberry and lingonberry desserts, pastries and preserves.

Alongside these, the Global Diners menu card brings caviar, sushi, cheese and pastries, and Japanese, Korean and Chinese dishes can be prepared for passengers heading to Asia. Halal, kosher, vegetarian and vegan menus are available, and wine and champagne are offered subject to local rules.

Anchorage (PANC / ANC) Event Calendar for Private Jet Catering

Anchorage is a well-known technical stop on the great-circle route between North America and Asia, so business jets pass through year-round for fuel, crew rest and catering uplift. Local activity adds a strong summer season, when guests head to fishing lodges, glaciers and Denali, and a late-winter peak around Fur Rendezvous and the Iditarod start. For festival weeks and long transpacific legs, send your order a little earlier than the usual 24 hours, confirm passenger and crew numbers early and agree delivery timing with your handler. Wild salmon, halibut, king crab and reindeer sausage are local specialities available on request.

Fur Rendezvous at Anchorage (PANC / ANC): Late February to early March

Known locally as Fur Rondy, this winter festival dates back to the 1930s, when trappers and miners gathered in town to trade furs. Today it includes sled dog races, a carnival and the Running of the Reindeer through downtown streets. Visitors combine it with the Iditarod start that follows. Warm, comforting catering suits the season: soups, stews and hot dishes in thermal carriers, along with hot drinks. We recommend ordering a day earlier during festival weekends.

Things to do around Anchorage (PANC / ANC)

Anchorage sits between the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet, and wilderness is never far away. The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail runs along the shoreline with views of Denali on clear days, and Chugach State Park offers hiking right on the city's edge. The Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm is one of the most scenic drives in the region, with chances to see Dall sheep and beluga whales. Glacier cruises leave from Whittier and Seward, and Girdwood's Alyeska resort offers skiing in winter. Flightseeing to Denali, bear viewing and fishing trips are popular in summer, and the northern lights can be seen in winter.

Culture and heritage near Anchorage (PANC / ANC)

The Anchorage Museum covers Alaskan art, history and science, including large collections of Alaska Native objects. The Alaska Native Heritage Center presents the cultures of the state's Indigenous peoples through dance, storytelling and traditional dwellings. The Alaska Aviation Museum, on the shore of Lake Hood, one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world, tells the story of bush flying.

Also on the Global Diners network: Fairbanks (PAFA / FAI)

Fairbanks International Airport serves Alaska's Interior and its second-largest city, a base for mining, government, the University of Alaska Fairbanks and two major military installations, Fort Wainwright and Eielson Air Force Base. Business aviation brings mining and energy executives, researchers, officials and contractors heading on to the North Slope. Leisure travel follows two seasons: summer visitors bound for Denali National Park, roughly a two-hour drive south, and winter guests who come for the aurora borealis, which is visible on many clear nights from late August to April.

Fairbanks is the main base for exploring Interior Alaska. Denali National Park, home to North America's highest peak, lies about two hours south by road, and air tours fly over the mountain. Chena Hot Springs, roughly 100 km east, offers outdoor thermal pools and an ice museum. In town, visitors can ride a riverboat on the Chena River, pan for gold at historic dredge sites and walk the Pioneer Park heritage area. Winter brings aurora viewing, dog mushing, snowmachine trips and cross-country skiing, while summer offers fishing, canoeing and hiking under the midnight sun.

Can you deliver catering for a fuel stop at Anchorage (PANC / ANC) on a transpacific flight?

Yes. At Ted Stevens Anchorage (PANC / ANC), catering can be prepared for technical stops so that fresh meals are loaded while the aircraft refuels. Is Alaskan king crab or wild salmon available for flights from Anchorage?

Yes. For Anchorage (PANC / ANC) departures, wild Alaskan salmon, halibut and, subject to seasonal availability, king crab can be sourced on request. Smoked salmon platters are available all year and travel very well. Seafood is packed chilled for service early in the flight, and we can add cooked fish courses designed for reheating on longer sectors.
