Private Jet Catering Cairo (HECA / CAI): Lead Times, Ramadan, Eid and Holiday Planning
Private jet catering in Cairo follows a calendar unlike any other in our network. Business aviation at Cairo (HECA / CAI) serves government, diplomacy, finance and energy all year, while the cooler months from October to April bring touring groups to the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Nile Valley. On top of this rhythm sit the great religious holidays, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and Coptic Christmas, whose dates move each year. Planning catering around them is simple once you know how each one shapes the week.
Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, from Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh (HESH / SSH) and Hurghada (HEGN / HRG) on the Red Sea. This guide focuses on timing: how far ahead to order in each season, which menus suit Ramadan and Eid departures, and how to plan multi-leg Egyptian itineraries with confidence.

Lead times in Cairo: a simple rule for every season
For most departures from Cairo, our usual recommendation applies: order 24 hours ahead. This gives our kitchens the full menu choice, time to source fresh ingredients and time to agree the delivery window with your handler. When a flight falls in a holiday week, a festival or the peak of the touring season, ordering a little earlier, and sharing the passenger count as soon as it is known, keeps every option open.
Period | Typical activity | Global Diners recommendation |
Normal business weeks | Government, finance and energy shuttles | Order 24 hours ahead, with final numbers the day before |
Winter touring season, October to April | Tours to Giza, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea | Order a little earlier and plan each leg in one request |
Ramadan | Departures around iftar and suhoor | Share the exact departure time so meals match the fast |
Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha | Family and leisure travel, Gulf visitors | Order early, with generous sharing menus |
Summer, June to August | Gulf families, North Coast resorts | Light menus, fresh juices and fruit for warm days |
Our specialised team confirms every order in writing, with delivery coordinated with your FBO or handler. If plans change, a single email to order@globaldiners.com keeps the whole order in one thread.
Ramadan departures: iftar and suhoor on board
During Ramadan, many passengers fast from dawn to sunset. Flights that depart or land around sunset call for an iftar service: dates and water or laban to break the fast, followed by lentil soup, qamar el-din apricot juice and a light main course such as grilled chicken, kofta or fish with rice. Flights before dawn suit a suhoor box with ful medames, eggs, cheese, bread, yoghurt and fruit, so passengers can eat before the fast begins.
Share the exact times: departure and arrival times help us plan the moment of iftar or suhoor on board.
Keep it light: soup, dates and a balanced main are kinder to the body after a day of fasting than a very rich meal.
Pack for flexibility: iftar boxes for each passenger allow the crew to serve at exactly the right minute.
Include the crew: fasting crew members appreciate the same thoughtful boxes for their duty day.
Halal, kosher and alcohol-free menus are available, and halal is the natural choice for most flights in Egypt. Every item is labelled for allergens, and sauces are packed separately with reheating guidance for the galley.
Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and the Coptic calendar
The two Eid holidays are among the most joyful moments of the Egyptian year. Families travel together, Gulf visitors arrive in numbers and many Cairenes head to the Red Sea or the Mediterranean coast. Generous sharing menus work beautifully on these flights: mezze, grilled lamb and kofta, fattah with rice and garlic, roasted vegetables and fresh salads, followed by kahk biscuits and other festive sweets. Because the Islamic calendar moves about eleven days earlier each year, we always recommend checking the expected dates with our team when you plan.
Egypt's Coptic Christians celebrate Christmas on 7 January, and Easter is followed by Sham el-Nessim, the spring festival when families picnic outdoors. These dates often coincide with the winter touring season, so Cairo welcomes many visitors in the first weeks of the year. Our article on government and diplomatic flight catering explains how we prepare delegation flights, which are frequent in Cairo throughout the year.
In Cairo, the best catering plan starts with the calendar: once the holidays are on the schedule, every menu falls naturally into place.
Egyptian flavours that travel well
Egyptian cooking is generous and full of herbs and spice, and many of its classics suit the cabin. Ta'ameya, the Egyptian falafel made with fava beans, and ful medames make a satisfying breakfast with baladi bread, eggs and pickles. Mahshi, vegetables stuffed with herbed rice, grilled kofta and molokhia with chicken become comforting main courses on longer sectors. Feteer meshaltet, the flaky layered pastry, can be served sweet with honey or savoury with white cheese.
For dessert, om ali bread pudding, basbousa and konafa are favourites, with hibiscus karkadeh, mango juice and mint tea to drink. Caviar, smoked salmon, cheese and pastries from the Global Diners menu card remain available on every flight, and restaurant pick-ups from Cairo can be coordinated on request. Wine and champagne are offered subject to local rules.
Multi-leg itineraries: Cairo, the Nile and the Red Sea
Many Egyptian journeys combine several airports in a few days: Cairo for the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then Luxor or Aswan for the temples of the Nile, then the Red Sea at Hurghada, El Gouna or Sharm el-Sheikh for a few days of sun and diving. In summer, Alexandria and the North Coast resorts, reached through Alexandria (HEBA / HBE), are popular with families. Sending the whole itinerary in one request lets our team plan catering for each leg, with fresh preparation at every departure airport.
Short domestic sectors suit light boxes with sandwiches, mezze, fruit and pastries, while international legs to Europe or the Gulf call for a full service. Our guide to crew catering for layovers shares ideas for crews spending several nights in Egypt, and our worldwide catering coordination article explains how one ordering routine works across every airport.

Things to do around Cairo (HECA / CAI)
The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are the essential sight, best visited early in the morning. Next door, the Grand Egyptian Museum displays the treasures of Tutankhamun in a vast modern setting. Felucca rides on the Nile at sunset, horse rides through the desert at Giza and visits to the step pyramid of Saqqara and the Dahshur pyramids are popular. In the city, the island of Zamalek offers riverside walks, and golfers can play courses with views of the Pyramids. Dinner cruises along the river show the city lights, and day trips reach the oasis of Fayoum and the desert landscapes of Wadi El Rayan.
Culture and heritage near Cairo (HECA / CAI)
Cairo spans more than 1,000 years of Islamic history, and its historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors explore the Citadel of Saladin, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, Al-Azhar Mosque and Coptic Cairo's ancient churches. The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization complete the picture of Egypt's long past, together with the Cairo Opera House and the restored Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis.

Sharm El Sheikh International serves the resort city at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Business jet flights bring leisure guests to beachfront hotels around Naama Bay and Nabq, divers heading for the reefs of Ras Mohammed National Park and the Strait of Tiran, and delegates attending international conferences, which the city has hosted on a large scale. Excursions reach Mount Sinai and St Catherine's Monastery inland. Winter sun visitors from Europe and the Gulf drive the main season, with family holidays adding traffic in spring and autumn.
Sharm El Sheikh is best known for its underwater world. Ras Mohammed National Park, at the tip of the peninsula, has coral walls and abundant marine life, and the Straits of Tiran offer some of the Red Sea's most famous reefs. Snorkellers can enjoy house reefs directly from many resorts. On land, visitors take quad-bike tours into the desert, dine at Bedouin camps and climb Mount Sinai at night to watch sunrise from the summit. Dahab, up the coast, is popular for freediving and windsurfing, and glass-bottom boats suit non-divers who want to see the coral.
