Private Jet Catering Cape Town (FACT / CPT): Winelands Menus and Safari Links
Private jet catering in Cape Town brings together two of South Africa's great journeys: the Winelands of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Constantia, and the safari lodges reached by short onward flights. Business jets arrive at Cape Town (FACT / CPT) for the long, sunny summer, for the mining conference in February and for whale season along the coast, and the menu on board can capture the Cape at every step.
Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. This guide explains how to plan catering for Cape Town trips, which Cape flavours work best in the cabin, and how to connect the city with safari and the rest of South Africa.

Cape Town: the mother city from the air
Cape Town International sits on the Cape Flats, about twenty minutes from the City Bowl and the V&A Waterfront and a short drive from the Winelands. Business aviation passengers come for every kind of trip: European winter escapes to the Atlantic Seaboard, family holidays over Christmas, conference and mining business in February, and long journeys that combine the Cape with safari in the north. Our team coordinates every delivery with your FBO or handler at Cape Town, and the FBOs are listed at the end of this guide.
The flights themselves are often long. A direct sector from Europe or the Gulf can last eleven hours or more, so the menu is planned in phases: a light dinner after departure, a selection of snacks and a cheese board through the night, and a fresh breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, eggs and warm pastries before landing at Cape Town. Crew meals are packed and labelled separately for each pilot and cabin crew member, and our ultra-long-range menu article shares more ideas for the longest sectors.
Winelands flavours for the cabin
The Cape Winelands are as celebrated for their food as for their vineyards. Estate restaurants serve the region's lamb, line fish and seasonal vegetables with French and Cape Malay influences, and that spirit translates naturally into a refined cabin menu.
Starters: Cape smoked snoek pâté, beetroot and goat's cheese salad, West Coast oysters on ice.
Mains: Karoo lamb rack with rosemary, grilled kingklip with lemon butter, springbok loin with a berry jus.
Cheese: a South African cheese board with fig preserve and crackers.
Desserts: malva pudding, milk tart and a fresh fruit plate.
Drinks: rooibos and honeybush teas, fresh juices, and Cape wines subject to local rules.
Restaurant pick-ups from the Winelands or the Waterfront can be coordinated on request when passengers would like a dish from a favourite estate on board. Our wine pairing guide suggests how to match Cape dishes with the cabin's wine selection.

Safari links: from the Cape to the bush
Many Cape Town trips include safari. Guests fly to Johannesburg or Lanseria to connect with lodges in the Greater Kruger area and neighbouring countries, or continue directly by smaller aircraft. Each leg calls for a different style of menu.
Leg | Typical flight | Global Diners menu idea |
Europe to Cape Town | Long overnight sector | Light dinner, breakfast with fruit, yoghurt and pastries |
Cape Town to Johannesburg | Short domestic hop | Biltong, salads, sandwiches, fresh fruit |
Johannesburg or Lanseria to the lodges | Short light-aircraft legs | Compact boxes, snacks, cold drinks |
Safari to home | Long return sector | Comforting dinner, cheese board, rooibos tea |
For lodges, compact formats are best: sealed boxes, wraps and salads that stay fresh in a cool bag. Our guides to Johannesburg and Lanseria and Nairobi safari catering go further into bush itineraries.
A Cape Town menu tells the story of the journey: Winelands elegance on the way out, and something simple and delicious for the flight to the bush.
The Cape seasons
Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and green, mild winters. Summer, from December to March, is the liveliest season, when the Atlantic Seaboard and the Winelands welcome visitors from Europe and the Gulf. Autumn brings the grape harvest, and the cooler months from June to November are the season for whales along the coast at Hermanus, for cosy fireside dining in the Winelands and for safari in the dry bush.
In summer, our team favours fresh, chilled dishes and generous fruit; in winter, slow-cooked lamb, soups and warm desserts. Grape harvest season, from February to April, is a wonderful moment to taste the Cape: our team can add seasonal fruit, Cape figs and local cheeses to the menu, and the sunny autumn days are ideal for a picnic-style platter on a short hop up the coast. Whale season brings many visitors to the Overberg, and a warm soup, fresh bread and a slow-cooked main make a welcoming menu for the flight home. For the liveliest weeks around Christmas and New Year, we recommend ordering a little earlier than the usual 24 hours.
Cape Malay and coastal traditions
Cape Malay cooking, rooted in the Bo-Kaap, gives the city some of its most distinctive flavours: fragrant bobotie, gently spiced curries, samoosas and koeksisters. Along the coast, line fish, mussels and West Coast crayfish are favourites, while the braai brings boerewors and grilled steak to the table. Durban, on the Indian Ocean, adds its famous curries; see Durban (FALE / DUR) for flights from KwaZulu-Natal.
Each dish arrives with an allergen label and reheating guidance, and sauces are packed separately. Halal menus are widely appreciated in Cape Town, and kosher, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menus are equally available.
