Private Jet Catering Havana (MUHA / HAV): Ordering Tips for Cuba Flights

Private jet catering in Havana is a chance to bring one of the Caribbean's most atmospheric cities on board. Cuba's capital, with its colonial squares, its seafront Malecón and its music in every street, welcomes diplomats, trade delegations, cultural guests and leisure travellers through Havana (MUHA / HAV). A little planning makes the catering on these flights as memorable as the city itself.

Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Havana. This guide shares our ordering tips for Cuba flights, the Cuban flavours that travel well, the Havana festival calendar and how Havana combines with Varadero (MUVR / VRA), Nassau (MYNN / NAS) and Cancún (MMUN / CUN).

Ordering tips for Cuba flights

Catering for Havana works best with a little extra notice and clear information. These habits help our team prepare every order calmly and with the finest ingredients of the season.

  1. Order a little earlier than the usual 24 hours; 48 hours is ideal for Havana, and more for large groups or festival weeks.

  2. Share the full itinerary, including the inbound and outbound legs, so we can plan both directions together.

  3. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies early, so every special dish is prepared with care.

  4. For same-day returns, choose whether the return menu is prepared in Havana or loaded at the departure airport and kept in the chillers.

  5. Confirm the delivery time with your handler, and our team will coordinate the hand-over on the day.

Many operators fly to Havana from Nassau, Cancún, Mexico City or Europe. One email to order@globaldiners.com covers every leg, and our team plans the menus so each sector feels different. Our article on worldwide catering coordination explains how we organise multi-leg trips.

Cuban flavours, refined for the cabin

Cuban creole cooking is warm, generous and full of comforting flavours. Many of its classics reheat beautifully, which makes them ideal for a business jet galley.

  • Ropa vieja: slow-cooked shredded beef in a tomato and pepper sauce, served with rice, an elegant warm main course.

  • Lechón asado with mojo: roast pork marinated in citrus and garlic, with the mojo packed separately.

  • Moros y cristianos: black beans and rice cooked together, a classic side for every main course.

  • Picadillo: minced beef with olives and raisins, delicious with plantain.

  • Tostones and maduros: crisp green plantain and sweet ripe plantain.

  • Seafood: grilled snapper, lobster and enchilado de camarones, prawns in a tomato and pepper sauce.

  • Desserts and coffee: flan, guava pastries, coconut sweets and strong Cuban coffee.

Tropical fruit such as mango, papaya, pineapple and guava, with fresh juices and mint lemonade, makes a lovely light service. Halal, kosher, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are available, all with allergen labelling, and the Global Diners menu card, with caviar, smoked salmon, fine cheeses and pastries, is available on every departure. Cuban rum and wine can be included subject to local rules. Our article on Latin American flavours on a private jet shares more ideas.

Restaurant pick-ups from Havana's paladares

Havana's private restaurants, the paladares, are part of the city's charm, many of them in colonial mansions and rooftop terraces in Old Havana, Vedado and Miramar. If your passengers have a favourite, our team can coordinate a restaurant pick-up on request, subject to the restaurant's agreement and opening hours. Dishes are collected, packed for travel and included in the delivery plan with your handler.

In Havana, the best meals tell a story. A dish from a favourite paladar is the perfect last chapter of the trip.

Havana, Varadero and the wider Caribbean

Many itineraries combine the capital with the beaches of Varadero, about two hours east along the coast, or continue to other Caribbean islands. Our routine is the same at every airport: one menu, one email and one dedicated quote. For Bahamas legs, see our Nassau (MYNN / NAS) crew guide, and for island flavours on the next sector, our guide to Caribbean seafood and Creole flavours.

Havana International Jazz Festival at Havana (MUHA / HAV): January

Founded in 1978 and long associated with pianist Chucho Valdés, the festival brings Cuban and international musicians to Havana stages for a week of concerts. Plan catering for unusual hours: cold platters, sandwiches and desserts that hold well, plus hot soups in thermal carriers for night sectors. Order a few days ahead and confirm the late delivery window with the handler.

Festival and fair dates in Havana are set afresh each year, so please check the current timings with our team when you place an order.

Things to do around Havana (MUHA / HAV)

Old Havana rewards a slow walk through its four main squares, Plaza de Armas, Plaza Vieja, Plaza de San Francisco and the Cathedral square, followed by a drive along the Malecón in a restored 1950s convertible. Across the harbour, the Morro castle and La Cabaña fortress offer views back over the city, and the nightly cannon-firing ceremony at La Cabaña is a long-standing tradition. Fusterlandia, the tiled art neighbourhood in Jaimanitas, is a colourful detour. Beach lovers head east to Playas del Este, while a full-day excursion reaches the tobacco fields and limestone hills of the Viñales valley. Evenings bring live son, salsa and jazz in clubs and cabarets.

Culture and heritage near Havana (MUHA / HAV)

Old Havana and its fortifications were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, and the district's colonial palaces, churches and arcaded squares span four centuries. The Capitolio, the Gran Teatro and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, with its strong Cuban collection, are essential stops. The Museum of the Revolution occupies the former presidential palace. Outside the city, Ernest Hemingway's house at Finca Vigía is preserved as a museum. Music, from son and danzón to Afro-Cuban rumba, runs through daily life.

Also on the Global Diners network: Varadero (MUVR / VRA)

Juan Gualberto Gómez International, between the city of Matanzas and the Hicacos Peninsula, is the airport for Varadero, Cuba's largest beach resort. Private aircraft bring holidaymakers to the all-inclusive and luxury resorts along Varadero's long white beach, golfers heading for the course at the Xanadu Mansion, and families combining a beach week with Havana, which lies roughly two hours west by road. Matanzas itself, a historic port city, adds cultural visits to many itineraries.

Varadero's main attraction is its beach, a ribbon of pale sand running along the Hicacos Peninsula with calm, shallow water. Catamaran trips sail to Cayo Blanco for snorkelling, and dive centres visit reefs and wrecks off the coast. The Varadero Golf Club course wraps around the Xanadu Mansion, built for Irénée du Pont. Near the airport, the Saturno cave offers a freshwater swim in a limestone cavern, and the Bellamar caves outside Matanzas reveal crystal formations. The Varahicacos Ecological Reserve, at the peninsula's tip, has walking trails, cacti and old trees. Day trips reach Havana or the Zapata Peninsula's wetlands.

Here are the business aviation terminals (FBOs) at each airport mentioned above. Our team coordinates every catering delivery with the FBO or handler you choose, and our own kitchens deliver planeside at Paris (LFPB / LBG) and Nice (LFMN / NCE).
