Private Jet Catering in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco: One Menu for Every West Coast Departure

Private jet catering in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco serves some of the most varied passengers in business aviation. In a single week, the same aircraft may carry a film crew out of Van Nuys, conference guests into Las Vegas and a technology leadership team up to the Bay Area. Each group has its own expectations, yet all of them share one wish: that the catering on board is excellent, well presented and exactly as requested.

Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Van Nuys (KVNY / VNY), Las Vegas (KLAS / LAS) and San Francisco (KSFO / SFO). In this article our team looks at how a warm, accommodating attitude and an organised process work together on the West Coast, and how one menu can travel smoothly between three very different markets.

Three cities, three rhythms

Los Angeles is the home of entertainment and creative industries. Van Nuys is one of the most active business aviation airports in the region, and Los Angeles (KLAX / LAX) welcomes international long-range flights. Award seasons, premieres and private events shape the calendar, and passengers often fly at short notice and at unusual hours.

Las Vegas lives by its event calendar. Trade shows, conventions, sporting weekends and concerts bring large groups of executives and guests to Las Vegas (KLAS / LAS), often on tight itineraries with several aircraft arriving together. San Francisco and the Bay Area, served by San Francisco (KSFO / SFO) and Oakland (KOAK / OAK), combine technology business travel with leisure trips to the wine country.

Saying yes, within an organised process

The best caterers share a generous instinct: when a passenger asks for something, the first answer is yes. On the West Coast, where requests can be imaginative, that instinct is essential. Generosity works best, however, when it sits inside a clear process. Without one, every special request becomes a chain of calls and messages. With one, it simply becomes part of the confirmed order.

At Global Diners, every request starts from the one Global Diners menu. Special requests are noted in the order from the beginning, our specialised team prepares a dedicated quote, and the written confirmation records every detail. The crew, the operator and the kitchen therefore share the same picture, and the request is fulfilled calmly rather than improvised.

A generous answer and a clear process are not opposites. The process is what allows the generous answer to arrive on board exactly as promised.

Freeing the kitchen to focus on the plate

When orders arrive complete and confirmations are clear, our kitchens spend less time re-checking details and more time on what passengers actually experience: preparation, presentation and finishing touches. Organised ordering is therefore not only an administrative benefit; it shows on the tray.

  • Complete requests: registration, airport, date, delivery time, passenger count and dietary needs in the first message.

  • Early orders: ordering 24 hours ahead gives our kitchens the full menu choice.

  • Clear special requests: noted once, confirmed in writing and prepared with care.

  • Careful packing: HACCP principles, cold chain, allergen labelling and sauces packed separately.

Crews tell us these are the details they value most, as described in what flight crews expect from a private jet caterer.

Restaurant pick-ups and special occasions

Los Angeles and San Francisco are home to celebrated restaurants, and some passengers like to bring a favourite dish on board. Global Diners can coordinate restaurant pick-ups on request, so the dish reaches the aircraft alongside the rest of the order. For birthdays, anniversaries or celebrations after a successful event in Las Vegas, simply mention the occasion in your request and our team will suggest the most suitable options from the Global Diners menu.

Halal, kosher and alcohol-free menus are available, and wine and champagne are offered subject to local rules. Caviar, smoked salmon, cheese and pastries from the menu card are popular choices for celebratory flights.

One menu along the West Coast

Many operators fly regular triangles between Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Bay Area. With one menu and one specialised team across all three, the crew orders the same way at each stop and passengers recognise the same quality on every leg. Delivery at each airport is coordinated with your FBO or handler and timed to the departure. Our article on private jet catering at US airports covers further destinations across the country.

Coming soon: the Global Diners client portal

Our team is preparing the Global Diners client portal, designed to bring the Global Diners menu, order requests, confirmations and documents into one space for crew, operations and finance. For West Coast operators flying several sectors a week, it will make each order easy to follow from request to delivery. Until it opens, every request continues through order@globaldiners.com.

Planning tips for West Coast crews

  1. Check the event calendar: award seasons, conventions and race weekends bring many aircraft to the same airports.

  2. Order 24 hours ahead whenever possible, especially during busy event weeks.

  3. Mention special occasions and restaurant pick-ups in the first request.

  4. Confirm the FBO and the delivery time for each airport on the trip.

  5. Keep every change in one email thread with order@globaldiners.com.

When Los Angeles Gets Busy: VIP Catering at Van Nuys (KVNY / VNY)

Van Nuys, in the San Fernando Valley, is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the world and the main private-jet base for the entertainment industry. Its calendar peaks with awards season from January to March, when studios, talent and guests fly in for ceremonies and parties, and again with festival weekends, summer car events and the holiday period. During these weeks, ramp space, handler teams and our kitchens selected specifically for private aviation are in high demand. Order two to three days ahead, finalise passenger numbers early and agree delivery times with your handler. Californian dishes such as grain bowls, avocado toast, sushi, fresh fruit and cold-pressed juices travel well, and plant-based, gluten-free and other dietary requests are common here.

Golden Globes and Grammy Awards at Van Nuys (KVNY / VNY): January to February

Awards season opens with the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, followed by the Grammy Awards downtown. Artists, executives and their teams arrive from New York, London and Nashville, and after-parties keep departures late. Hot dishes in thermal carriers, gourmet sandwiches and snacks suit night flights, while breakfast boxes help next-morning returns. Order at least 48 hours early and agree delivery windows with your handler, since awards weekends bring high demand to the Van Nuys ramp.

Awards ceremonies, festivals and auction weeks in California shift every year, so please confirm the dates with our team when you order.

Van Nuys sits in the San Fernando Valley, close to Universal Studios Hollywood and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Burbank. Over the hills, visitors find the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory and hiking trails with views of the Hollywood Sign. The beaches of Malibu, Santa Monica and Venice are reached via the canyons or the 405. Golf, tennis and hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains fill the year-round sunshine, and day trips run to Santa Barbara and Palm Springs. Families often add a visit to Disneyland in Anaheim, south of the city, or a whale-watching cruise from the coast in winter and spring.

Also nearby: Las Vegas (KLAS / LAS)

Harry Reid International Airport, formerly McCarran, lies just south-east of the Las Vegas Strip. Private traffic is driven by conventions and trade shows, entertainment, major sporting events and gaming, with many visitors arriving for short stays at the Strip's resorts. Las Vegas is one of the leading convention cities in the United States, and large shows generate significant peaks in arrivals and departures. Weekends bring leisure travellers for concerts, boxing, residencies and dining, and the city is also used for trips to the Grand Canyon.

The Strip is the main attraction, with fountain shows, resident concerts, magic, comedy and some of the best-known stage productions in the United States. Beyond the lights, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers red sandstone cliffs, hiking and climbing just west of the city. Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are an easy drive away for boating and views, and Valley of Fire State Park has striking rock formations. Helicopter and fixed-wing tours fly over the Grand Canyon. Golf, spa days and pool clubs complete the picture for visitors who want time away from the casinos.
