Cabo San Lucas Private Jet Catering: Los Cabos (MMSD / SJD) and Cabo San Lucas (MMSL / CSL) Guide

Cabo San Lucas private jet catering is all about the moment a holiday begins. At the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, where the desert meets the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific, Los Cabos welcomes families, friends and executives who want sunshine, sport fishing, golf and some of Mexico's finest resorts within a short drive of the aircraft. Most arrive through Los Cabos (MMSD / SJD) or the smaller Cabo San Lucas (MMSL / CSL), and the meal on board is often the first taste of the trip, or the last memory of it.

Global Diners prepares inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including both Los Cabos airports, where delivery is coordinated with your FBO or handler. This guide covers the two airports, the seasons that shape demand, the Baja flavours that travel beautifully, and the simple steps that keep every Los Cabos departure relaxed.

Two airports, one resort destination

Los Cabos has two airports that serve business aviation. Los Cabos (MMSD / SJD), near San José del Cabo, is the larger international airport, with a dedicated FBO for private aircraft and easy access to the Tourist Corridor. Cabo San Lucas (MMSL / CSL), just north of Cabo San Lucas, is a smaller airport focused on general aviation, popular with owners heading to the marina, Pedregal and the Pacific-side villas.

Both airports are a short drive from the resorts, so the timing of catering usually follows the guests' plans for the day: a late breakfast after a night at the marina, a long lunch at a villa or a sunset return from a fishing charter. Our specialised team plans each order around that rhythm and agrees the delivery time with the FBO or handler you choose.

The Los Cabos seasons

Los Cabos enjoys sunshine for most of the year, but its private aviation calendar has a clear shape. The winter months from mid-December to April bring the busiest weeks, from US Thanksgiving to the Christmas and New Year holidays and on to spring break and Easter. From December to April, humpback whales gather in the waters off the cape, and whale-watching trips fill the mornings. In October, the big sport-fishing tournaments bring anglers and their guests to the marina.

  • Holiday weeks: order several days ahead, confirm passenger numbers early and add children's boxes and crew meals in the same request.

  • Whale season: light breakfasts and fruit platters for early departures after a morning on the water.

  • Fishing tournaments: hearty lunches and plenty of chilled water for long days at sea, and celebration menus for the flight home.

  • Summer and early autumn: quieter weeks, ideal for villa stays, with fresh salads, ceviche and sorbets that suit the warmth.

Because temperatures stay warm through most of the year, cold-chain packing matters. Every Global Diners order is prepared following HACCP principles, with salads, seafood and desserts packed to stay perfectly chilled until service. Our guide to last-minute private jet catering shares ideas for the days when plans change at the beach.

Baja flavours that travel well

Baja California Sur cooks with the sea. Fish and shrimp tacos, ceviche with lime and coriander, aguachile, tuna tostadas and the region's famous chocolate clams are local favourites, and organic farms in the hills around San José supply salad leaves, herbs and vegetables to the area's farm-to-table restaurants. Mango, papaya and dates grow nearby, and the Valle de Guadalupe in northern Baja produces many of the wines served in the resorts.

On board, these flavours become bright cold courses: ceviche or tuna tostadas served with fresh tortilla chips, a poke-style bowl, grilled dorado with salsa verde that reheats gently, and tropical fruit with lime and chilli. For guests who prefer international dishes, the Global Diners menu brings caviar, smoked salmon, fine cheeses and French pastries. Mexican wines and tequila can be added subject to local rules, and alcohol-free pairings such as agua fresca and hibiscus tea are always available.

In Los Cabos, the best menu tastes of the place: lime, sea salt, a little chilli and the freshest fish of the morning.

Villa chefs, resort restaurants and pick-ups

Many guests in Los Cabos stay in private villas with their own chef, or have a favourite restaurant in San José or at the marina. Restaurant and villa pick-ups can be coordinated on request: we collect the dishes, pack them for galley service with clear labels and reheating guidance, and bring them to the FBO or handler with the rest of the order. Share the restaurant or chef's contact details and the departure time in your first message.

For return flights, a mix often works best: one or two signature dishes from the guests' favourite restaurant, completed by the Global Diners menu for breakfast, snacks and crew meals. Our article on restaurant pick-ups for private jets explains how this works on the French Riviera, and the same approach applies in Baja.

Flights home: the United States and beyond

Most Los Cabos departures head north, to Van Nuys (KVNY / VNY) for Los Angeles, to Texas, or to Teterboro (KTEB / TEB) for New York, with longer flights continuing to Europe. On a three-hour sector to California, a light lunch and a dessert are usually enough; on a five-hour flight to the East Coast, a full meal service with a hot main course makes the journey feel shorter. For transatlantic trips, our own kitchens deliver planeside at Paris Le Bourget (LFPB / LBG) and Nice (LFMN / NCE) on arrival in France.

When Los Cabos Gets Busy: VIP Catering at Los Cabos (MMSD / SJD)

Los Cabos is one of the busiest private-jet destinations in Mexico, and its demand is highly seasonal. US Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, spring break and Easter all bring a rush of arrivals from the United States, with departures concentrated in a few days, so early planning keeps every departure calm. October's fishing tournaments add another peak. During these weeks, order catering several days ahead rather than at the standard 24 hours, confirm passenger numbers and allergies early, and agree delivery timing with your FBO or handler. Warm weather makes well-chilled, sealed formats essential, and a desert climate means fresh salads and seafood should be packed with ice.

Dining and shopping near Los Cabos (MMSD / SJD)

Los Cabos cooking is built on seafood: fish tacos, chocolate clams, tuna tostadas and ceviche, as well as farm-to-table dining in the hills around San José. Flora Farms, a working farm with a restaurant, is a long-established favourite. The marina in Cabo San Lucas is lined with seafood restaurants and bars, while San José's historic centre has galleries, design shops and silver jewellery. Puerto Paraíso and the Luxury Avenue mall at the marina cover international brands.

Local flavours for flights from Los Cabos (MMSD / SJD)

Baja California Sur's cooking centres on the sea. Fish and shrimp tacos, ceviche, aguachile with lime and chilli, and chocolate clams grilled or served raw are local favourites, alongside fresh tuna, dorado and lobster. Organic farms around San José supply salad leaves, herbs and vegetables for the area's farm-to-table restaurants, and the Valle de Guadalupe in northern Baja provides many of the wines poured locally. Damiana, a native herb, is used in teas, and fresh mango, papaya and dates grow in the region. For the cabin, ceviche, tuna tostadas and poke-style bowls make bright cold courses, grilled fish with salsa reheats easily, and tropical fruit platters suit any departure. Resort and farm-to-table restaurant orders can be collected on request.

Also nearby: Cabo San Lucas (MMSL / CSL)

Cabo San Lucas grew from a small fishing and cannery town into a resort from the 1970s onwards, so most of the area's heritage lies in San José del Cabo. Its historic centre is built around a mission church founded by the Jesuits in the 18th century and a shaded main square. The gallery district hosts a weekly evening art walk during the main season, and Todos Santos, a designated Pueblo Mágico, adds colonial buildings, a cultural centre and a strong community of artists.

Dining splits between the lively marina and downtown Cabo San Lucas, the resort restaurants of the corridor, and the quieter, chef-driven scene of San José del Cabo. Farm-to-table cooking is a local strength, with Flora Farms in the foothills near San José a long-standing example. Seafood is the constant, from beach-shack tacos to tasting menus. For shopping, the Puerto Paraíso mall sits on the marina, while the San José gallery district is known for contemporary art, Mexican crafts and silver jewellery.
