Private jet catering in New England follows the most beautiful calendar in North America: summer on the islands of Nantucket (KACK / ACK) and Martha's Vineyard (KMVY / MVY), blazing foliage in Vermont in October, and snowy weekends in the Green Mountains through the winter. Business jets fly in from New York, Washington and Florida for all of it, and the menu on board can taste of each season, from lobster rolls and blueberries in July to apple cider doughnuts and maple desserts in the autumn.

Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including the islands, Cape Cod, Boston and Burlington. This guide explains how to plan catering for New England trips, which regional flavours travel well, and how the islands and the mountains connect with the rest of the East Coast.

Four airports for islands, coast and mountains

Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard welcome summer residents and their guests, often on short hops of under two hours from the New York area or Washington. Hyannis (KHYA / HYA) serves Cape Cod and its villages, while Burlington (KBTV / BTV) is the gateway to Stowe, the Lake Champlain shore and the Vermont countryside. Boston, the region's business capital, links them all.

Summer on the islands

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the islands are at their most lively. Owners open their homes, house guests arrive for long weekends, and families fly in with children and pets for the whole summer. The flight is short, so the menu is about freshness and simplicity: a chilled seafood platter, crisp salads, fruit and a light dessert.

  • Seafood: lobster rolls, chilled shrimp, oysters on ice and poached salmon with dill sauce.

  • Salads: heirloom tomato and burrata, corn and avocado salad, summer greens with berries.

  • Sandwiches: turkey and cranberry, crab salad on brioche, vegetable wraps for the children.

  • Desserts: blueberry pie, strawberry shortcake and fresh fruit skewers.

  • Drinks: lemonade, iced tea and sparkling water, with rosé subject to local rules.

Sunday evening departures at the end of a summer weekend are among the most popular flights of the season. We recommend ordering a little earlier than the usual 24 hours for holiday weekends, so our team can plan each delivery time with your FBO with ease. Our seafood and shellfish guide shares more ideas for lobster and shrimp on board.

Clam chowder, lobster and the New England table

New England cooking is generous and comforting, built on the fish of the Atlantic, the farms of the interior and the orchards of the hills. Creamy clam chowder, baked cod with buttery crumbs, lobster in every form and Boston cream pie are regional icons, while Vermont adds farmhouse cheddar, maple syrup and apples.

A New England menu changes with the season: lobster and blueberries in July, apples and maple in October, and a warm chowder when the snow falls.

On board, our team serves chowder in insulated containers with oyster crackers on the side, packs lobster with the butter and lemon separately, and adds reheating guidance for warm dishes. Each item carries an allergen label, which is especially useful with shellfish on the menu.

Foliage season and Vermont

From late September to mid-October, the hills of Vermont and New Hampshire turn red, gold and orange, and leaf-peeping weekends draw visitors from across the East Coast. Burlington is the natural gateway, close to Stowe, Shelburne and the shores of Lake Champlain. The autumn menu is warm and cosy: butternut squash soup, roast chicken with root vegetables, Vermont cheddar and apple slices, and apple cider doughnuts with maple glaze.

In winter, Burlington welcomes skiers bound for Stowe and the Green Mountains. Hearty dishes, hot chocolate and warming soups suit the snowy flights, and our winter destinations guide covers more mountain menus.

Cape Cod and connections along the coast

Cape Cod combines classic summer villages, golf courses and sailing harbours, and Hyannis is the closest airport to many of them. Trips often link the Cape and the islands with Boston, New York and Washington, and passenger preferences are shared once so the menu follows every leg. Our Boston and Hanscom guide covers the city, and our New York area guide covers the most frequent departure points for the islands.

Planning private jet catering around the Nantucket calendar at Nantucket (KACK / ACK)

Nantucket Memorial Airport serves an island of historic whaling-era streets, summer estates and sailing clubs about 50 km off the Massachusetts coast. Most business jets come from New York, Boston and Washington as homeowners and their guests arrive for long weekends and full summer stays. Activity builds from Memorial Day, peaks in July and August and stays lively until early September, with spring and pre-Christmas festivals drawing smaller waves of visitors. Many flights are short hops of under two hours, while family groups with children and pets make up a large share of passengers.

Daffodil Festival at Nantucket (KACK / ACK): Late April

Millions of daffodils bloom across the island in spring, and the festival weekend celebrates them with an antique car parade from Main Street to Siasconset and tailgate picnics. It is the first big weekend of the season and a favourite for families reopening their homes. Picnic-style catering is popular: sandwiches, quiches, salads and spring desserts.

Festival weekends and holiday dates move slightly each year, so check the current timings with our team when ordering.

Things to do around Nantucket (KACK / ACK)

Nantucket's beaches range from the calm waters of Jetties and Children's Beach to the Atlantic surf at Surfside and Cisco, and Madaket is the place for sunsets. Cycling paths reach most of the island, including the village of Siasconset with its rose-covered cottages and Sankaty Head Lighthouse. Brant Point Lighthouse welcomes boats into the harbour. Sailing, fishing charters, seal-watching trips and walks across moorland and conservation land are popular, and golf is available at several clubs. In spring and autumn, quiet lanes and wide beaches make the island ideal for long walks, birdwatching and photography, and the Maria Mitchell Association runs science walks and an observatory.

Culture and heritage near Nantucket (KACK / ACK)

In the 18th and 19th centuries, Nantucket was a leading whaling port, and the Whaling Museum tells that story, including the events that inspired Moby-Dick. The town's cobblestone streets, captains' houses and shingled cottages form a National Historic Landmark district. The island is also known for Nantucket lightship baskets, a craft that began aboard lightships offshore. The African Meeting House and the Quaker heritage of the island are also part of its story.

Also on the Global Diners network: Martha's Vineyard (KMVY / MVY)

Business jet flights bring summer residents, house guests and well-known visitors who spend part of the season in the island's historic villages and waterfront homes. The season builds from late May, peaks in July and August and continues until Labor Day weekend in early September. Outside summer, the island is calm and flights are largely by residents.

The island's beaches range from the surf of South Beach at Katama to the calm waters of State Beach between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. The clay cliffs at Aquinnah and the fishing village of Menemsha, famous for its sunsets, are on the western end. Cycling paths link the main towns, and a tiny ferry crosses from Edgartown to Chappaquiddick, with its wildlife reserves and quiet beaches. Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary has trails through salt marsh. Sailing, kayaking, fishing charters and golf round out the activities, and summer weekends bring farmers' markets and outdoor concerts. In the shoulder seasons, walking trails through the state forest and conservation lands are at their most peaceful.
