Private Jet Catering Istanbul (LTFM / IST): Halal Menus and Turkish Cuisine
Private jet catering in Istanbul brings together two continents, two airports and one of the world's great cuisines. Business aviation in the city is shared between Istanbul (LTFM / IST) on the European side and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (LTFJ / SAW) on the Asian side, and passengers range from Gulf delegations and family groups to executives, investors and guests flying on to the Aegean coast. For many of them, halal menus are essential, and Turkish flavours are a pleasure to discover on board.
Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including both Istanbul airports. This guide explains how to choose between them, how our halal menus are prepared, and which Turkish dishes travel best at altitude.

Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen?
Istanbul Airport, north of the city near the Black Sea coast, is the main international gateway and welcomes long-range aircraft from every continent. Sabiha Gökçen, on the Asian shore near Pendik, is often preferred by guests heading to the Asian districts, the Princes' Islands or the business parks of Anatolia. Both have business aviation terminals and FBOs, listed at the end of this guide.
Airport | Ideal for | How Global Diners supports it |
Istanbul (LTFM / IST) | Long-range and international flights, the European shore | Delivery coordinated with your FBO or handler, multi-service catering |
Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (LTFJ / SAW) | The Asian shore, Pendik and Anatolian business parks | The same Global Diners menu and the same order process |
Istanbul is a large city, and road transfer times vary across the day. Our team plans each delivery with your FBO or handler around your departure time, so the catering is ready when your passengers arrive.
Halal menus, prepared with care
Halal menus are central to private aviation in Istanbul, and they are prepared with the same attention as every dish on the Global Diners menu. Meat and poultry come from halal sources, every item is labelled, and our team confirms the details of each request in writing. Alcohol-free menus are available for every departure, and kosher menus can also be prepared on request.
Halal sources: meat and poultry from halal sources, clearly identified on every label.
Alcohol-free service: fresh juices, ayran, sparkling waters, Turkish tea and coffee, with alcohol-free menus available.
Allergen labelling: every item shows its allergens, with nuts and sesame clearly marked, as they appear often in Turkish cuisine.
Family and delegation flights: generous sharing platters as well as individually plated meals.
For protocol flights, our article on government and diplomatic flight catering explains how we prepare menus that respect every guest's customs. Guests flying on to the Gulf will find the same principles described in our guide to private jet catering in Dubai.
Turkish hospitality begins at the table. We simply carry that welcome on board.

Turkish cuisine on board
Turkish cuisine draws on the Ottoman palace kitchens, the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts and the spice routes of Anatolia. Many of its dishes are naturally suited to the galley: mezze served cold, grilled meats that reheat well, and pastries that travel beautifully.
Moment | Turkish inspiration | How Global Diners prepares it |
Breakfast | Simit, white cheese, olives, tomatoes, honey and kaymak, menemen | Components packed separately, reheating guidance for hot dishes |
Mezze | Hummus, stuffed vine leaves, aubergine salad, cacık | Chilled, individually portioned, allergen-labelled |
Main | Lamb or chicken kebab, köfte, grilled sea bass, pilaf | Galley-ready trays, sauces apart, halal sources |
Pastry | Börek with cheese or spinach, pide | Packed to keep their crispness, reheating guidance |
Dessert | Baklava, Turkish delight, fresh figs and cherries | Ready to serve, nuts clearly labelled |
A Turkish breakfast is one of the great pleasures of travel in the country, and it translates beautifully to the cabin: simit rings, white cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, honey with kaymak cream and a warm menemen of eggs and peppers. For lunch or dinner, mezze followed by grilled meat or sea bass with pilaf makes a complete and balanced meal, and baklava with Turkish coffee or tea brings the service to a close.

Istanbul seasons and occasions
Istanbul is busy all year. In April, tulips fill the city's parks and the Istanbul Film Festival takes place; June and July bring the music and jazz festivals; and November welcomes the intercontinental marathon across the Bosphorus. During Ramazan Bayramı and Kurban Bayramı, many families travel together, and our team plans larger orders and festive sweets for these occasions. Summer flights to Bodrum and the Aegean coast often begin in Istanbul.
During Ramadan, our kitchens can prepare iftar and suhoor menus timed to the flight, with dates, soups, mezze and light sweets. Our article on crew catering for layovers shares ideas for crews spending several days in the city.
Wine, the Global Diners menu card and dietary options
Alongside Turkish cuisine, every Istanbul departure can include the international dishes of the Global Diners menu card: caviar, smoked salmon, cheese and pastries, as well as fish, chicken and vegetable dishes. Wine and Champagne are offered subject to local rules, and halal, kosher, alcohol-free, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free menus are available. Restaurant pick-ups from a favourite Istanbul address can be coordinated on request.

The Istanbul Event Year for Private Jet Catering (LTFM / IST)
Istanbul Airport sits near the Black Sea coast in Arnavutköy, north-west of the city, and our team times every transfer to the Bosphorus districts with care. That distance matters most during Istanbul's peak periods: the spring tulip and festival season, the summer arts calendar, the intercontinental marathon in November and the two religious holidays, Ramazan Bayramı and Kurban Bayramı, when much of the country travels at once. During these windows, order earlier than the standard 24 hours, confirm passenger numbers early, agree delivery timing with the handler with traffic in mind and choose formats that travel well over a long road transfer, such as sealed boxes and chilled mezze platters.
Event | When | Where |
Istanbul Tulip Festival | April | Emirgan Park and parks across Istanbul |
Istanbul Music Festival | June | Concert halls and historic venues across Istanbul |
Istanbul Jazz Festival | July | Open-air and indoor venues across Istanbul |
Istanbul Marathon | November | Bosphorus crossing and historic peninsula |
Ramazan Bayramı and Kurban Bayramı | Varies with the Islamic calendar | Istanbul and nationwide |
Istanbul Film Festival | April | Cinemas in Beyoğlu and across Istanbul |
Istanbul Tulip Festival at Istanbul (LTFM / IST): April
Each spring, millions of tulips are planted across Istanbul's parks, with Emirgan Park on the Bosphorus the centrepiece, recalling the flower's Ottoman heritage. The display coincides with pleasant weather and a rise in leisure and business visits. Order a day or two earlier than usual for weekend flights and allow extra time for traffic between the European shore and Arnavutköy. Spring menus with artichokes, fresh herbs, börek and light olive-oil dishes travel neatly in chilled packaging.
Religious holidays in Türkiye follow the lunar calendar and festival dates move every year, so please confirm timings with our team when you order.
Things to do around Istanbul (LTFM / IST)
Istanbul is best experienced from the water. A Bosphorus cruise passes Ottoman palaces, waterfront yalı mansions and the fortresses of Rumeli Hisarı and Anadolu Hisarı, and private boat charters can include lunch on board. On the historic peninsula, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace sit within a short walk, with the Basilica Cistern underground nearby. Galata Tower offers views over the Golden Horn. Ferries cross to Kadıköy on the Asian side for markets and promenades, or to the Princes' Islands, where cars are largely absent. North of the city, the Belgrad Forest and Black Sea beaches offer green space and sea air.
Culture and heritage near Istanbul (LTFM / IST)
Istanbul served as the capital of both the Byzantine and Ottoman empires for more than 1,500 years combined. Hagia Sophia, completed in the 6th century, and Topkapı Palace, the Ottoman sultans' residence, anchor its historic areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Süleymaniye Mosque, designed by Mimar Sinan, crowns the skyline. Istanbul Modern and the Pera Museum showcase contemporary and Orientalist art.
Also nearby: Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (LTFJ / SAW)
Sabiha Gökçen lies in Pendik on Istanbul's Asian side, close to the business districts of Ataşehir and Kozyatağı, the Tuzla shipyards and the industrial belt stretching towards Gebze and Kocaeli. It is a busy airport with an active business aviation sector, popular with operators who prefer the Asian shore for meetings, ship deliveries, industrial visits and access to the Princes' Islands and Bosphorus waterfront homes. Leisure and cultural travellers use it too, crossing to the historic peninsula by road or bridge. Traffic is high year-round, with peaks in spring, early summer and holidays.
On the Asian side near the airport, the Princes' Islands are reached by ferry and offer car-free lanes, wooden mansions and seaside walks. Kadıköy and Moda have waterfront promenades, cafés and a lively market district. Çamlıca Hill offers panoramic views over the Bosphorus. A Bosphorus cruise reveals waterfront palaces, mansions and fortresses on both shores. Further afield, Polonezköy is a forested village for walks and brunch, and the Black Sea beaches of Şile and Ağva make an easy day trip. Golf, sailing and crossing to the historic peninsula round out the options.

Here are the business aviation terminals (FBOs) at each airport mentioned above. Our team coordinates every catering delivery with the FBO or handler you choose, and our own kitchens deliver planeside at Paris (LFPB / LBG) and Nice (LFMN / NCE).
