Venice Private Jet Catering: Marco Polo (LIPZ / VCE) Guide for the Biennale, Carnival and Film Festival
Venice private jet catering is shaped by a calendar unlike any other. Carnival fills the city with masks and costume balls in February, the Biennale draws the art and architecture world from spring to autumn, and the Venice International Film Festival brings stars and studios to the Lido at the end of summer. Most of these guests arrive at Venice (LIPZ / VCE), the only major airport in the world where your passengers can step from the jet terminal onto a water taxi.
Global Diners prepares VVIP inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Venice and nearby Treviso (LIPH / TSF). This guide follows the Venetian year, shares the flavours of the lagoon that travel well on board, and explains how our team keeps every order simple when the city is at its most spectacular.

Marco Polo and Treviso: two gateways to the lagoon
Venice Marco Polo sits on the edge of the lagoon at Tessera, a short water-taxi ride from San Marco, the Grand Canal hotels and the Lido. It welcomes everything from light jets to long-range aircraft and is the natural choice for most private jet flights. Treviso, around thirty kilometres inland, is a calm alternative for guests heading to the Prosecco hills, the Palladian villas of the Veneto or the Dolomites.
Airport | Ideal for | How Global Diners supports it |
Venice (LIPZ / VCE) | Carnival, the Biennale, the Film Festival and Grand Canal hotels | Delivery coordinated with your FBO or handler, timed to your departure |
Treviso (LIPH / TSF) | Prosecco hills, Palladian villas and Dolomites trips | The same Global Diners menu and one order process |
For the mountains in winter, our article on private jet catering for Milan and Cortina covers the Alpine season. Here, we stay by the water.
Carnival: catering for the season of masks
Venice Carnival runs for around two weeks before Lent, in February or early March. Costume balls in candlelit palazzi, private dinners and the famous procession on the Grand Canal attract guests from across Europe, the Gulf and the Americas. Flights often arrive on a Thursday or Friday for a long weekend, then leave together after the final Sunday.
For return flights, our team suggests a menu that restores and comforts after late nights: warm soups, light pasta dishes, fresh fruit and plenty of hydration. A sweet nod to the season is always welcome too. Fritole, the small Venetian doughnuts filled with cream or raisins, and galani, the crisp ribbons of fried pastry dusted with sugar, are Carnival traditions that bring the festive spirit into the cabin.

Venice asks guests to slow down. Our role is to make sure that the calm continues from the water taxi to the cabin.
The Biennale and the Film Festival
The Venice Biennale alternates between art in odd-numbered years and architecture in even-numbered years, with exhibitions in the Giardini, the Arsenale and pavilions across the city from spring to November. Preview week brings collectors, curators, gallerists and museum directors in large numbers, and many fly on to other art capitals within days. Their onboard taste leans towards refined, seasonal food and elegant presentation.
The Venice International Film Festival takes over the Lido from late August to early September. Actors, directors, producers and their teams arrive for premieres and press days, often on full schedules with several departures in the same week. Light dishes, sushi-style seafood, salads, fruit and alcohol-free cocktails are frequent requests, alongside a celebratory glass of Prosecco after a premiere, subject to local rules.
Flavours of the lagoon on the Global Diners menu
Venetian cooking is built on seafood, rice, vegetables from the lagoon islands and a love of small plates. Our kitchens bring that character on board, adapted for the galley.
Moment | Venetian inspiration | How Global Diners prepares it |
Aperitivo | Cicchetti, creamed salt cod on crostini, sweet-and-sour sardines | Individually portioned, chilled, allergen-labelled |
Starter | Seafood salad, smoked salmon, caviar | From the Global Diners menu card, packed for the cold chain |
Main | Risotto with seasonal vegetables, grilled fish, rice and peas | Galley-ready trays, sauces apart, reheating guidance |
Dessert | Tiramisù, fritole and galani in Carnival season | Ready to serve in individual containers |
Drinks | Prosecco from the Treviso hills, Bellini-style peach juice | Wine subject to local rules, confirmed with your quote |
Tiramisù, claimed with pride by Treviso, is one of the most requested desserts on Venice departures. Rice and peas, the springtime risi e bisi of Venetian tradition, makes a gentle, comforting main course. For a convivial cabin, a selection of cicchetti is a delightful way to begin a flight, and our guide to wine pairing for private jet catering has ideas for Prosecco and Veneto wines.

Dietary menus and galley-ready packing
Halal, kosher and alcohol-free menus are available for every Venice departure, together with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. Every item carries an allergen label, sauces travel separately and hot dishes come with reheating guidance. A table at a favourite Venetian restaurant can also become part of the flight: restaurant pick-ups can be coordinated on request, with the transfer time across the lagoon built into the schedule.
Water-taxi timing: our team plans delivery with your FBO or handler around the boat transfers of your passengers.
Long stays: crews spending several days in Venice can rely on our ideas for crew catering on layovers.
Onward legs: flights continuing to Nice (LFMN / NCE) or Paris (LFPB / LBG) enjoy planeside delivery from our own kitchens.

Private Jet Catering Calendar for Venice and the Veneto (LIPZ / VCE)
Venice Marco Polo sits on the edge of the lagoon, and its private-aviation calendar has two faces. From late spring to early autumn the city fills with art-world visitors, film-festival guests and yacht owners, while winter brings Carnival revellers and skiers heading north to Cortina d'Ampezzo. These are the most celebrated weeks of the Venetian year, and the city is at its most magical. Place catering orders well before the standard 24 hours, send confirmed passenger numbers as soon as you have them and agree a delivery slot with your handler, bearing in mind that many guests arrive by water taxi. Chilled platters, sealed individual trays and pastries in insulated boxes hold up well through summer heat and boat transfers.
Event | When | Where |
Venice Carnival | February or early March (varies with Lent) | Historic centre of Venice, around St Mark's Square |

Festa del Redentore | July | Giudecca Canal and St Mark's Basin, Venice |
Venice International Film Festival | Late August to early September | Lido di Venezia |
Cortina d'Ampezzo ski season | December to March | Cortina d'Ampezzo and the eastern Dolomites |
Venice Carnival at Venice (LIPZ / VCE): February or early March (varies with Lent)
Two and a half weeks of masked balls, costumed parades and private palazzo parties leading up to Shrove Tuesday. Guests fly in for the final weekends, so arrivals bunch on Fridays and departures on Sundays and Ash Wednesday. Order return catering when you book the inbound leg, since many passengers leave straight after a late gala. Morning-after breakfasts with fresh fruit and frittelle from a Venetian pastry shop, plus light salads, suit those departures and can be arranged on request.
Carnival, Biennale and festival dates shift from one year to the next, so check the exact timing with our team when you place your order.
Things to do around Venice (LIPZ / VCE)
Most visitors reach the city by water taxi straight from the airport dock, arriving along the Grand Canal. Walk from the Rialto Bridge to St Mark's Square early in the morning before the crowds, ride a gondola through the quieter canals of Cannaregio and Castello, and take a boat to the islands: Murano for glassblowing, Burano for its coloured houses and lace, and Torcello for its Byzantine basilica. The Lido offers sandy beaches and a golf course at Alberoni. Further afield, the Prosecco hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO site, and the villas of the Brenta Riviera make easy day trips, and the Dolomites lie within a couple of hours by road.
Culture and heritage near Venice (LIPZ / VCE)
Venice was the capital of a maritime republic for more than a thousand years, and its wealth still shows in the Doge's Palace, St Mark's Basilica with its golden mosaics and the Gallerie dell'Accademia's Venetian masters. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection holds modern art on the Grand Canal, and Scuola Grande di San Rocco is lined with Tintoretto. Teatro La Fenice stages opera year-round, and the Jewish Ghetto, founded in 1516, gave the world the word itself.
Also nearby: Treviso (LIPH / TSF)
Treviso Antonio Canova Airport lies just west of Treviso, a canal city in the Veneto, and is a practical alternative for private jet flights to Venice, especially during the lagoon's busiest weeks. Visitors come for Venice's festivals and art events, the Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, the hill town of Asolo and the Palladian villas of the Veneto countryside. Business aircraft serve the region's fashion, sportswear, furniture and machinery manufacturers. Traffic is steady all year, with peaks around the Venice Carnival, the Biennale, the Film Festival and summer holidays, and some passengers continue to the Dolomites.
Treviso's old town is crossed by canals and the Sile river, with walking and cycling paths along the water. Venice is close for a day of sightseeing, from St Mark's Square to the islands of Murano and Burano. The Prosecco hills offer wine tours, cycling routes and hilltop restaurants along the Strada del Prosecco. Asolo, a medieval hill town, and the Palladian villas, including Villa Barbaro at Maser, make easy excursions. In winter, guests continue north to ski in Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Dolomites, and in summer the Adriatic beaches of Jesolo are within reach.
