Private Jet Catering in Lisbon (LPPT / LIS) and Cascais (LPCS / CAT): Guide for Operators

Private jet catering in Lisbon draws on one of Europe's most generous food cultures. Portugal's capital has become a favourite destination for business travellers, tech founders, golfers and families, and its two business aviation gateways, Lisbon (LPPT / LIS) in the city and Cascais (LPCS / CAT) on the Estoril coast, see departures throughout the year. On board, passengers increasingly look for the flavours that made their stay memorable: grilled fish, rich cheeses, custard tarts and a glass of port, subject to local rules.

Global Diners prepares inflight catering in our own kitchens in Paris, Nice and Madrid and in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Lisbon, Cascais, Porto and Faro. In Lisbon and Cascais, delivery is always coordinated with your FBO or handler. This guide is written for operators, crews and flight departments planning departures from the Portuguese capital.

Lisbon's hills and the Tagus estuary: the city's flavours travel on every departure from Lisbon (LPPT / LIS).

Lisbon or Cascais: choosing the right gateway

Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport sits within the city, a short drive from Avenida da Liberdade, the business district and the riverside. It suits larger aircraft and international departures. Cascais Municipal Airport, at Tires, lies west of the city near Estoril and Sintra and is popular with light and midsize jets, golfers heading for the coast and families staying at the resorts along the Atlantic.

Whichever airport you choose, the catering approach is the same: one Global Diners menu, a dedicated quote for every request and delivery coordinated with the FBO or handler. Operators often use both gateways in the same week, arriving at one and leaving from the other, and a single request covering both legs keeps every detail in one written thread.

Portuguese flavours for the cabin

Atlantic seafood, served chilled: a natural choice for departures from Lisbon and Cascais.

Portuguese cuisine is built on the sea, the market and slow cooking. Many of its classics adapt well to business aviation when they are prepared with the cabin in mind. Our team helps crews choose dishes that keep their texture and flavour after a short time in the galley.

  • Pastel de nata: the famous custard tart, best served at room temperature with a dusting of cinnamon, perfect with coffee after take-off.

  • Bacalhau: salt cod prepared as an elegant salad or a gently reheated main course with potatoes and olive oil.

  • Grilled fish and seafood: sea bass, octopus salad and prawns, served chilled or warmed with sauces packed separately.

  • Cheese and charcuterie: Queijo da Serra, aged Azeitão cheese and presunto, presented on a sharing board.

  • Alentejo flavours: slow-cooked pork, coriander, olive oil and good bread for a heartier menu on a longer leg.

  • Port and Portuguese wines: tawny port, Douro reds and vinho verde can be added subject to local rules, with alcohol-free pairings always available.

The Global Diners menu sits alongside these regional touches, with caviar, smoked salmon, French cheese and pastries for guests who prefer familiar favourites. Every item carries allergen labelling, and halal, kosher and alcohol-free menus are available.

A year of departures from Lisbon

Lisbon welcomes visitors in every season, and each one brings its own mood on board. In spring, the city fills with conferences and the Estoril coast awakens for golf. June belongs to the Santos Populares, the popular saints' festivals, when grilled sardines and street music fill the old neighbourhoods. Summer brings families heading to Comporta and the Algarve, and autumn brings the technology and investment events that make Lisbon a meeting point for founders from around the world.

Port and Douro wines can be added subject to local rules, with alcohol-free pairings always available.

Lisbon is a city of light and of the table: the best flights out of it carry a little of both.

Our team plans menus around this rhythm: a light seafood lunch for a June departure, a working breakfast with pastéis de nata and fresh fruit for a conference week in November, or a slow-cooked Alentejo main course for a winter flight north. The guide below lists the main events that shape the calendar at the airport.

Connections across Portugal, Spain and France

Lisbon often sits within a wider itinerary. Porto (LPPR / OPO) opens the way to the Douro Valley and its wine estates, and Faro (LPFR / FAO) is the gateway to the Algarve's golf courses and summer villas. Across the border, our own kitchen in Madrid delivers to the FBO at Madrid (LEMD / MAD), and our own kitchens in Paris and Nice deliver planeside at Paris (LFPB / LBG) and Nice (LFMN / NCE).

Events That Shape Private Jet Catering at Lisbon (LPPT / LIS)

Lisbon Humberto Delgado lies inside the city, which makes it quick and convenient for passengers. Business aviation shares the airport with airline traffic, so parking stands and handling windows are planned with extra care during the November tech conference week, the June street festivals and the summer weeks when villa owners fly in for Cascais, Sintra and Comporta. Allow more than the standard 24 hours for orders, share passenger numbers and dietary notes as early as you can, and agree a precise delivery time with your FBO or handler. Chilled seafood, salads, cheese boards and sealed individual meals travel best in the Atlantic summer heat and on quick turns.

Web Summit at Lisbon (LPPT / LIS): November

Europe's largest technology conference brings founders, investors and government delegations to the riverside Parque das Nações for four days. Corporate jets arrive in waves just before opening day and many leave as soon as their sessions end, often the same evening. Lock in catering two or three days ahead, keep a flexible return order ready for schedule changes, and choose easy-to-eat formats such as wraps, poke bowls and fruit boxes that busy executives can take on board and enjoy while working.

Festival and conference dates in Lisbon move each year, so confirm the timing with our team at the moment you order.

Things to do around Lisbon (LPPT / LIS)

Lisbon spreads over seven hills above the Tagus, and the best way to start is a ride on historic Tram 28 through Graça and Alfama, followed by sunset at a miradouro such as Senhora do Monte. Belém, to the west, combines riverside walks with the city's great monuments. Sintra, around 30 km away, offers romantic palaces and forested hills, and the Cascais and Estoril coast has beaches, a marina and championship golf. Surfers head to Guincho or Ericeira, a World Surfing Reserve, while the Arrábida hills and Setúbal across the river reward a day trip with turquoise coves, dolphin watching and seafood lunches.

Culture and heritage near Lisbon (LPPT / LIS)

The 1755 earthquake reshaped Lisbon, and the grid of the Baixa Pombalina is its rebuilt heart. Belém keeps the Age of Discovery alive in the Manueline Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower. The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum holds a superb private collection, MAAT shows contemporary work by the river, and the National Tile Museum traces five centuries of azulejos. In the evening, fado, listed by UNESCO, is sung in small houses in Alfama and Mouraria.

Also nearby: Cascais (LPCS / CAT)

Cascais Municipal Aerodrome at Tires lies inland from Cascais and Estoril, west of Lisbon, and is the capital region's main general aviation field. It suits light and midsize business jets carrying passengers to the Cascais and Estoril coast, Sintra's palaces and the Lisbon business district, with the city centre reachable by road in under an hour in normal traffic. Demand comes from tech and investment conferences, golf, sailing, second homes and the growing community of international residents. Summer, spring tennis week and November's Web Summit are the busiest periods.

Cascais and Estoril have sandy bays, a seafront promenade linking the two towns and a marina popular with sailors. Guincho beach, to the west, is famous for windsurfing and kitesurfing, and Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Sintra, a UNESCO-listed hill town a short drive away, is known for Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle and the gardens of Quinta da Regaleira. Several championship golf courses lie between Sintra and the coast, and Lisbon's historic centre, with its hills, viewpoints and riverside, is within easy reach for a day trip.
