Private Jet Catering Genoa (LIMJ / GOA): Boat Show Season and Ligurian Menus

Private jet catering in Genoa carries the flavours of the Ligurian coast: basil from the hillside terraces, olive oil from the Riviera di Ponente, focaccia still warm from the bakery and anchovies from the gulf. Owners, shipyard clients and yachting guests fly into Genoa (LIMJ / GOA), the airport built on a peninsula in the sea right beside the port, and many arrive in September for the city's international boat show.

Global Diners prepares inflight catering in our kitchens across more than 2,500 airports, including Genoa, Milan Linate (LIML / LIN) and Florence (LIRQ / FLR), with our own kitchen at Nice (LFMN / NCE) just along the coast. This guide covers the boat show season, Ligurian dishes that travel well, how to plan catering for yacht owners and shipyard visits, and the best ways to combine Genoa with the Riviera, Milan, Tuscany and Sardinia.

Boat show season in Genoa

Each September, the Genoa International Boat Show transforms the waterfront into one of the great meeting places of the yachting world. Shipyards present new models, brokers welcome clients and owners combine sea trials with dinners in the old town. For many guests the visit is short and intense in the best sense: an arrival in the morning, a day on the docks and a departure in the evening.

Catering follows that rhythm. A light breakfast tray suits early arrivals, a fresh lunch box with salads, focaccia and fruit is ideal for guests who spend the day on board the yachts, and a complete dinner menu awaits passengers on the flight home. During the show, our team suggests ordering a little earlier than the usual 24 hours and confirming passenger numbers as soon as they are known.

Ligurian flavours on board

Ligurian cooking is fragrant, light and built on simple ingredients of exceptional quality. It travels beautifully, because many of its classics are designed to be eaten at room temperature, a happy legacy of a seafaring culture.

  • Focaccia: the classic Genoese focaccia with olive oil and sea salt, and focaccia di Recco filled with soft cheese.

  • Pasta: trofie or trenette with pesto alla genovese, and pansoti with walnut sauce, with sauces packed separately.

  • From the sea: anchovies from the gulf, grilled fish, octopus salad and seafood antipasti.

  • Savoury tarts: torta pasqualina with greens and eggs, and farinata, the chickpea pancake.

  • Sweet finish: pandolce genovese, amaretti, lemon tarts and fresh fruit.

Every item is labelled for allergens, sauces are packed separately and reheating guidance accompanies each hot dish. Caviar, smoked salmon, cheese and pastries from the Global Diners menu card complete the selection, and halal, kosher and alcohol-free menus are available. Vermentino or champagne can be added subject to local rules.

Catering for yacht owners and shipyard visits

Genoa is one of the Mediterranean's great yachting cities, with refit yards and marinas that welcome superyachts throughout the year. Owners often fly in to inspect a refit, meet their captain or join the yacht before a cruise, and the catering on board the aircraft is the first chapter of the trip.

  1. Email order@globaldiners.com with the aircraft registration, airport, date, delivery time and passenger count.

  2. Mention the programme of the visit, so our team can match the menu to a shipyard day or a cruise departure.

  3. List dietary needs and allergies for passengers and crew.

  4. Order 24 hours ahead, or a little earlier during the boat show.

  5. Receive your dedicated quote and written confirmation; delivery is coordinated with your FBO or handler.

In Genoa, the sea is never far from the table, and the best inflight menus carry a little of that horizon on board.

Restaurant pick-ups from Genoa's old town and the Riviera can be coordinated on request, which is a lovely way to bring a favourite trattoria on board. For a cruise departure, our team can also prepare a selection of focaccia, cheeses and pastries for the first evening on the yacht, packed and labelled like every other item. Our article on catering for the Monaco Yacht Show covers the next great event of the yachting calendar.

The Riviera, Milan, Tuscany and Sardinia

Genoa sits at the centre of a remarkable network of destinations. Along the coast to the west, Nice (LFMN / NCE) is our own kitchen, with planeside delivery for the Côte d'Azur and Monaco. To the north, Milan Linate (LIML / LIN) serves Milan's business and fashion calendar. To the south-east, Florence (LIRQ / FLR) opens the way to Tuscany, and Olbia (LIEO / OLB) welcomes summer guests to the Costa Smeralda. Our guides to private jet catering in Florence and Tuscany and summer catering in Sardinia cover the next stops.

Aircraft Catering at Genoa (LIMJ / GOA) During Peak Events in Genoa and the Italian Riviera

Genoa's airport is built on reclaimed land along the seafront, a short drive from the city's port and historic centre. It is the closest airport for the Portofino peninsula, Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo and the Cinque Terre coastline, which makes it a regular choice for yacht owners, charter guests and villa visitors on the Italian Riviera. Business aviation is at its liveliest from late spring to early autumn, and again in September when the city hosts its international boat show.

Riviera summer season at Genoa (LIMJ / GOA): June to September

Summer brings a steady flow of villa guests and yacht owners to the Portofino promontory and the coast east of Genoa. Weekend turnarounds are frequent and often involve families. Order a little ahead for Friday and Sunday departures, and keep everything cool: prawn and octopus salads, trofie al pesto, caprese, fruit and plenty of water. Children's menus can be added on request. Agree the delivery time with your FBO or handler so chilled items are served at their freshest.

Boat-show and festival dates along the Ligurian coast change from year to year, so please confirm the current calendar with our team when you order.

Dining and shopping near Genoa (LIMJ / GOA)

Liguria gave the world pesto alla genovese, and the city's trattorie serve it with trofie or trenette, alongside focaccia, farinata made from chickpea flour, pansoti with walnut sauce and fresh anchovies. Bakeries in the old town start early with focaccia for breakfast. Via XX Settembre is the main shopping street, with arcades and department stores, while the caruggi hide traditional shops for pasta, sweets and olive oil. Santa Margherita and Portofino have fashion boutiques around their harbours.

Local flavours for flights from Genoa (LIMJ / GOA)

Liguria is the home of pesto alla genovese, made with small-leaf basil, pine nuts, Ligurian olive oil and aged cheese, and served with trofie or trenette. Focaccia genovese, salted and glossy with oil, is one of the best snacks you can take on board, alongside the cheese-filled focaccia di Recco. Farinata, a thin chickpea flatbread, and torta pasqualina, a vegetable and egg pie, are excellent cold. Taggiasca olives, marinated anchovies and stuffed vegetables make a light Riviera mezze for the cabin. Pansoti with walnut sauce is a regional speciality for a heated main. A pick-up from a Genoa focacceria or a Portofino restaurant is available on request.
